Twisted Science – where science meets sustainability

At the end of last year, we held a competition to find our biggest fans. In a happy twist of fate, it turns out we’re huge fans of them too.

At the end of last year, we held a competition to find our biggest fans. In a happy twist of fate, it turns out we’re huge fans of them too.

Twisted Science took out our little contest, with their video entry taking full advantage of every part of their museum. They’ve got a rocket launcher and a bearded dragon named Grumpy. These guys know how to have a good time.

As well as welcoming people of all ages to learn about science and the natural world, Twisted Science have a cafe and host birthday parties and school groups. This means they wind up with more than a few eligible containers on site, and with their enthusiasm for sustainability, returning them through CDS Vic was an easy call.

“At its core it’s about longevity of wildlife resources which we really, really support here,” said team member Dan.

Education is also key at Twisted Science. The team love to encourage curiosity and a sense of play – everything is hands-on and the idea is to learn by having a go.

Team manager Trina said it was all about helping kids appreciate the world around them. Twisted Science planned to use their prize money to expand the area of the museum aimed at kids under five, getting them on board from the very start. In addition, they donated their extra prize to Deadly Science, a First Nations charity promoting access to STEM education in remote and regional areas.

What a worthy cause. Check them out and head to Twisted Science with your little learners too.
